An informed choice · Mesh Wi-Fi router with subscription

FamilyAtlas vs
Gryphon

Add family internet controls to your existing Wi-Fi, with Android support away from home.

Checked September 26, 2026 · Written by FamilyAtlas · Early-access product compared with published competitor capabilities.

Why FamilyAtlas

Keep your Wi-Fi. Add family controls.

FamilyAtlas HomeControl uses a Brume 2 wired gateway with your existing Wi-Fi. Add home schedules, device pause and web filtering while keeping Android screen-time controls, location and family check-ins in the same product.

Plan your setup

What you can use today.

Brume 2 is a wired gateway, not a replacement Wi-Fi mesh router. Family + Home requires a subscription plus the gateway. Available home controls and Android features are listed below; intrusion alerts and iPhone features remain Preview.

Cost and setup

The Gryphon AX router was listed at $299–$499 for a 1-pack depending on the page, plus a Standard ($5/month) or Premium ($8/month) subscription for security features. It replaces your Wi-Fi router, and AX units cannot mesh with older Gryphon Tower or Guardian units. A Brume 2 (about $80 on Amazon) is added to your existing Wi-Fi, plus the FamilyAtlas Family + Home plan ($12.99/month or $119.99/year).

Not found in their documentation

30 FamilyAtlas capabilities not found in Gryphon’s documentation.

FamilyAtlas has these on at least one platform (including preview), and we did not find them in Gryphon’s official documentation. That is not proof Gryphon lacks them; check with the vendor if one matters to you. Rows we did not check are left out.

Honest tradeoffs

Coverage to check: 7 capabilities.

Gryphon’s official sources list these, while FamilyAtlas does not have them, or has them only in preview where they are fully offered.

Try the tasks your family actually needs.

Test a TV, a console and a guest phone at home: pause, a schedule, a blocked service and a new device joining. Check what happens when a device uses its own DNS or a VPN, and when the child leaves home Wi-Fi. A feature name alone does not establish reliable coverage on your device.
